SoilToSelfLiving is a health education and living-systems learning website focused on Human Biology & Environment. This site is written for children, adults, families, caregivers, educators, and curious learners to increase their understanding of how the body’s foundations, body systems, natural repair processes, daily health needs, environmental conditions, and common health conditions are connected. The human body does not live apart from the world around it. Every breath, meal, drink of water, hour of sleep, relationship, home, habit, season, and environment becomes part of the conditions the body responds to each day.
Earth is part of a much larger living and physical system. Our planet moves within the solar system, which exists within the Milky Way galaxy, while countless other stars, planets, moons, galaxies, and vast regions of the Universe extend far beyond what we can see. Earth is not separate from these larger surroundings. Its cycles of light and darkness, seasons, tides, climate, and the conditions that make life possible are connected to its movement through space and its relationship with the Sun, Moon, and wider Universe. Just as people live within families, communities, ecosystems, and the Earth itself, Earth also exists within systems far greater than our planet. From the smallest cell to the largest known structures in the Universe, life and matter exist within layers of connection, movement, change, and ongoing cycles.
Body. Environment. Earth.

Welcome to SoilToSelfLiving

Your body is amazing. It helps you breathe, move, eat, sleep, think, learn, play, and grow.
Your body is also connected to the world around you. The air you breathe, the water you drink, the food you eat, the sunlight you see, and the places where you live and play can all affect how you feel.
Earth is our home. It gives people, plants, and animals the air, water, soil, food, and sunlight needed for life. Earth travels around the Sun, and the Moon travels around Earth. These movements help create day and night, seasons, and ocean tides.
Everything is connected from the tiny cells inside your body to the plants and animals around you and the Earth beneath your feet.
Body. Environment. Earth.

SoilToSelfLiving is a place to learn about the human body, health, the environment, and Earth’s living systems.
The human body does not live separately from the world around it. The air you breathe, water you drink, food you eat, sleep you get, movement you enjoy, people in your life, and places where you spend time all become part of the conditions your body responds to each day.
Earth is also part of something larger. It moves around the Sun within our solar system, and our solar system is part of the Milky Way galaxy. Earth’s relationship with the Sun and Moon helps shape light and darkness, seasons, tides, climate, and many of the conditions that allow life to exist.
Connections can be found at every level—from cells and body systems to families, communities, ecosystems, Earth, and the wider Universe. Each exists within other systems that are continually moving, changing, and interacting.
