I'm glad you're here.
At nearly 80, life has gently reshaped how I see things.
Everything feels more connected now, and I find more joy in the simple, everyday choices that support the body and the life around it.
I’m truly happy you’re here.
Linda Bottero
SoiltoSelfLiving was created from a simple but important understanding: the body does not exist separately from the world it lives in.
This work began with questions. Over time, I found myself looking more closely at what shapes how we feel day to day not just within the body, but in the conditions around it. The food we eat, the air we breathe, the water we drink, the materials we live with, and the environments we move through all play a role. What became clear is that these are not separate pieces. The body responds to the conditions it is given.
At first, the information felt scattered. Nutrition, environment, movement, stress, and daily habits were often presented as separate topics. But the more I looked, the more a pattern emerged. Soil influences food. Food influences the body. Environment shapes daily conditions. Over time, those conditions shape how the body functions, adapts, and maintains itself. The body is not working against us, it is responding, continuously, to what surrounds it.
That realization changed how I approach daily living. It shifted the focus away from searching for isolated solutions and toward supporting the systems that support us. Not in a way that feels overwhelming or restrictive, but in a way that feels steady and possible through small, consistent choices that influence long-term stability.
SoiltoSelfLiving was built to make that understanding usable. It is a living library that brings together science and practical application, connecting human biology with the environment in a clear and grounded way. The goal is not perfection, but participation seeing how things connect and making choices that support those connections over time.
Caring for the body and caring for the environment are not separate responsibilities. They are part of the same relationship. The way we grow food, use resources, choose materials, and interact with the natural world influences not only our own health, but the conditions that continue forward into families, communities, and future generations.
Each of us participates in creating the conditions of our lives. Not perfectly, and not all at once, but steadily. The choices we make shape how we feel, how we function, and how we experience the world around us. This is not about control; it is about direction. Over time, those conditions can support stability, resilience, and a sense of abundance.
This site is here as an invitation to learn, to explore, to apply what makes sense, and to share. Because when we begin to see the whole system more clearly, the path forward becomes simpler, and the impact of small, thoughtful actions becomes meaningful.
With care and gratitude,
Linda Bottero

My Living Continuum Mantra
There is a quiet continuity moving through everything.
Light reaches the surface of the earth.
It touches soil, water, air, and all living forms.
It enters the body through the eyes, through the skin, through daily rhythms that shape how we live.
The body does not stand apart from this.
It responds to light, to food grown from soil, to the quality of air and water, to the spaces we inhabit.
What surrounds us becomes part of what sustains us, often in ways we don’t need to think about to feel.
From this, life builds.
Cells organize.
Systems regulate.
Energy becomes structure, movement, thought, and connection.
The same processes that support plant growth support human life.
The same conditions that sustain ecosystems influence the stability of the body.
Nothing here is separate.
The ground we walk on, the food we eat, the environments we create, and the way we care for them all participate in a shared living system we are part of every day.
This is not something to achieve.
It is something to recognize and gently work within.
To notice what is supporting life.
To notice what is placing strain on it.
To make small, steady choices that support balance over time.
Care for the body becomes care for the environment.
Care for the environment becomes care for the body.
Respect grows from understanding this connection.
And from that respect, more thoughtful ways of living begin to take shape, one choice at a time.
This is the continuum.
Light to living systems.
Living systems to human life.
Human life back to the earth.
A continuous exchange.
A shared responsibility.
A living relationship we are already part of and can learn to care for more fully.
